I've been homeschooled all my life. My whole family is homeschooled, except my littlest sister Caroline, who turns one year old in April. My dad, my mom, my four younger sisters, my younger brother (poor thing!), and I live in the suburbs of a city in the state of Michigan, in the the country of the United States of America. I'd rather live in New Zealand or the British Isles-- but Michigan is lovely in its way. Besides my immediate family I have numerous other relations (like Rabbit in the Winnie-the-Pooh books).
I have a very vivid imagination. As a strong introvert, I used to amuse myself for hours playing make-believe, but usually now I write instead of run around my yard with my wooden sword. :) But more important than being imaginative, I'm a follower of Jesus Christ. I love to sing and worship Him, especially in song. Jesus saves!!(!!!!!!!!!) I so do not deserve it. My prayer is to always bring glory to God, becoming more and more like Jesus as I do so. I cannot express to you what Jesus grows more and more to mean to me. I also have amazing friends and adults in my life who push me forward, ask tough questions, pray with me, and hold me accountable. In my dear friend (and user) Kyleigh's words, they also "tell me when my fruit stinks."
I like to write (mostly fantasy), read (again mostly fantasy), sing, draw, and do archery. (Although the archery I can only do at summer camp. I also like to act, but I stink.) I'm cowardly, indecisive, klutzy, distracted, waterworks, and short.
I read a lot. Possibly too much. People who know me well seem shocked when I don’t have a book; people who don’t really know me seem surprised at how often I do. I’m the only person I know who goes to the movie theater or to stay with a friend armed with a quiver of books, paper, and pens. almost always carry around this giant purse/bag, covered with pins/buttons. It has been called "The Magical Mary Poppins Bag," my Small Elephant, and 50-pounds heavy. (Just don't try to pet the goblin and you'll be fine.)
I love all things pertaining to Celts and Elves.
I couldn't list all my favorite books. Mostly in no particular order, as everything else in this profile, my favorite authors are J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, Jane Austen, Douglas Bond, Lemony Snicket, Jeffrey Overstreet, Randy Alcorn, Ted Dekker, Robin McKinley, Shel Silverstein, L.M. Montgomery, Gail Carson Levine, Brian Jacques, Lloyd Alexander, Rick Riordan, J.M. Barrie, Susan Cooper, Elizabeth George Speare, Charlotte Bronte, Stephen Lawhead, Erin Hunter, Frances Hodgsen Burnett, and A. A. Milne. Other authors have written books I love, but because I haven't read their other books I'm wary of mentioning them. My favorite comic strip is Calvin and Hobbes.
My favorite movies include Lord of the Rings, Pirates of the Caribbean (mostly the first), National Treasure 1 and 2, Pride and Prejudice (Colin Firth), The Princess Bride, Ladyhawke, Star Trek (especially Zachary Quinto's brilliance), Emma (mostly Gwyneth Paltrow), Iron Man, Sherlock Holmes (Robert Downey, Jr.) , Nanny McPhee, A Knight's Tale, Much Ado About Nothing, The Scarlet Pimpernel (Ian McKellan), The Last Legion, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (Johnny Depp), Phantom of the Opera (Gerard Butler), Rigoletto, One Night with the King (as long as I can suspend my disbelief), Mary Poppins, Astro Boy, Enchanted, Peter Pan (live action), Fiddler on the Roof, The Tale of Despereaux, Cats, Pete's Dragon, Hoodwinked, sort of Star Wars, Thumbelina, The Princess and the Frog, Disney animated classics, everything Pixar, Race to Witch Mountain, Inkheart, and Penelope.
I watch the TV shows Psych, Phineas and Ferb (fancy my picture?), Doctor Who (David Tennant and possibly Matt Smith), Heroes, Monk, and sometimes the Muppet Show, Lost, Dr. Quinn, and Little House on the Prairie.
I listen to the beautiful music of Phil Wickham, Leeland, Flyleaf, Danyew, David Crowder* Band, and Seabird. I like many movie and musical soundtracks, but won't list them all.
Please drop by at my blog, www.barefootarrowsong.blogspot.com, and leave a comment. Unlike ApricotPie, it is a place for disorganization and randomness. It boasts of pictures, music, and an abundance of links to other places either like it or more inspirational. Enjoy!
