The Prophecy

A Poem By Edith // 6/26/2007

I’m afraid this will take forever
As I try to explain it all
But one thing I can say
And the world will shatter
If you do not answer your call;
You were called to a place
Filled with magic and despair
You were called to a place
Where even the trees aren’t fair;
But no matter what you do
He’s breathing there with you
So don’t give up just yet
We need you now.

There’s a prophecy, that’s the way
There’s a prophecy, I must say
The window bolts are bolted down
The children’s faces are a frown
Now do you ever stop and think
That Narnia has begun to sink
Into the deep magical clutch
Of the witch and her own magical touch
The evilness of her surrounding
Entering with ropes a’ bounding
My children, there’s a prophecy!
That’s the only way
Dear children there’s a prophecy
I must, must say.

I’m afraid you don’t understand
We cannot win without your hand
So just stay close and stick with us
Just help us win without a fuss
For I you do, Narnia will be free
Just wait my dear children
Just wait and see.

Yes, the roar and snarl cry was loud
Yes, these evils all around will crowd
But don’t you dare give up
Just believe and accept your cup
Climb the steep stairs and hold your ground
Even when darkness will surely be found!
I tell you now, children, stay and fight
For the faith, hope, and love, the right.

Entering a magic wooden wardrobe
Entering a magic world full of talking creatures
Living dwarves, talking beasts,
Wizards, men, forests and real big feasts
I cannot blame you, my child
For trusting this is all a group of dreams
But it is real, children! As is the land, castles, and streams.

So I show you that this world is real
Your anger and hatred it can feel
Like always being winter and never bringing Christmas
Listen to me now and consider it all, m’lass
We will strike and defeat evil no matter what the price
For we have the one on our side! The only surviving hope!
He is Aslan! Aslan is on the move! The Christ!

Did you know that when you first stepped through that door
Oh did you not know who you were?
Oh did you not understand yourself?
Then you did not understand or recognize or know
That when you first stepped on the snow
Oh did you not know where you were?
Were you certain, and had no doubt, were you sure?

There’s a prophecy, that’s the way
There’s a prophecy, I must say
The window bolts are bolted down
The children’s faces are a frown
Now do you ever stop and think
That Narnia has begun to sink
Into the deep magical clutch
Of the witch and her own magical touch
The evilness of her surrounding
Entering with ropes a’ bounding
My children, there’s a prophecy!
That’s the only way
Dear children there’s a prophecy
I must, must say.

I tell you now, my dearest sons of Adam and daughters of Eve
Do you understand this story now? Do you not believe?
Did you think it would be this way
A king, a queen, foes you will crush no matter what the price to pay.
There’s a prophecy, that’s the way
There’s a prophecy, I must say
The window bolts are bolted down
The children’s face are filled with frown
Now do you ever stop and think
That Narnia has begun to sink
Into the deep magical clutch
Of the witch and her own magical touch
For there is a prophecy, dearest children of mine,
All this beauty, and evil, and nature you have seen
There is a prophecy, my King and Queen.
