"Silent Night, Holy Night,"
Everybody knows that famous carol. It's one of the best. But tell me something. On Christmas and in the Christmas season, is it REALLY a silent night?
Think about it. Shoppers everywhere, road rage, spoiled rotten whinny kids, stressed parents....
The List goes on! With all the hecticness, it really isn't a silent night!
Though i love the Christmas season, know what REALLY bothers ME?
TAKING CHRIST OUT OF CHRISTMAS!
People replace the saying 'Merry Christmas' With Happy Holidays! or Seasons Greetings! I mean, it's okay to say Happy Holidays when you are portaning to all the other holidays. But in the place of CHRISTmas trying to take Christ out of the CHRISTmas? Christ is the reason for Christmas. When you really think about it, it's absurd.
So is the idea they replace the nativity with (though they are geting better at this). I mean, a big, fat man living in the North Pole, fitting down your chimmney and visiting EVERY house in the world and with flying reindeer? Santa would have to travel at the speed of light! Don't get me wrong, the story is fine and there really was a St. Nicholas at one time. But make sure you always say Merry Christmas this year?
I mean, it wasn't even a silent night the first Christmas. Think about it, they were in a BARN. With LOUD-NOISY, STINKY-SMELLY, BLEATING-BAAING-MOOING-CLUCKING ANIMALS!!!!!
And I hate "Happy Holidays". You know Lowe's was going to call Christmas trees "Family trees"? They stopped, tho.
Your so right! And don't you wonder why the rich kids get more stuff than the poor kids? When you think about it that way Santa isn't such a good guy!
Don't forget Jesus crying... :)
And even "Happy Holidays" will go soon... (in my opinion), after all, "holiday" first meant "holy day."
Nice essay/article/paper/whateveryouwanttocallit, Emily!
it needs work.....but isn't so true?
