I shall miss your utter stupidity,
even though it used to annoy,
I shall miss you living under my bed,
even though you chewed up my toys
You made me feel safe,
and hid during thunder,
You jumped on my bed,
and messed up my covers
You smelled and you shed,
you barked constantly,
you tore up the carpet,
(who cares, it was ugly)
You were a nanny,
a wolf, and a babysitter,
a reindeer, a horse--
(a real derby winner)
We played under the table
and behind the chair,
We laid on the floor
and my scraps I did share
You slept in my bed
when I had a bad dream,
you never would bite,
you comforted me
You got on the couch
though mom told you no,
you rolled in the grass,
you played in the snow
You got lost,
(I missed you too)
You came home one evening,
so I'm thanking you:
For eleven and a half
years of love,
happiness, life--
and even dumb.
Rosie, Rosie, this is for you,
my furry old sister, tried and true...
If I didn't have you, I wouldn't have known
how wonderful it is to have a dog in my home.
*This is for my dog, Rosie, who died on Sunday night. I'd had her since I was 2 years old. She was the dumbest dog ever, and that sounds mean, but it has kind of become a term of endearment. All my fondest memories are the stupidest things she did-- and the sweetest.*
That's so sad...
I had a guinea pig named Rosie, but she died three days after we got her. I was a wreck. :(
Sweet poem, and I hope you feel better soon!
You made me cry! I'm sorry about the loss! I'm going to be a reck when my dog [Anna] dies! lol.
