Time is...

A poem by Hannah W. | 10/11/2008

Time is a thief,
a tyrant,
cruel

Time is a friend,
a companion,
a rule

It rushes along
it hurries,
fights

And I don't really think
that this
is right

Shouldn't we take
all the time
we have?

Why shouldn't we stroll
instead of life
running past?

Time is a thief
that steals
a soul

Time is a tyrant
sitting on
its throne

Time is not about
to go
away,

But that doesn't mean
we have to
obey.

Funny you should say that.... actually, when I was still in school I HATED writing poems. But then when I wrote my first poem on apricotpie, it kind of got me going. I guess I just didn't like how in school we always had to follow a certain format. Plus we always did haikus and limericks every single year, which was pretty annoying. Free verse! free verse! so I like following my OWN ideas better. =D

Yeah, we talked about time and it's importance (in our health book of all places) today in school. I sound like an old person when I say "It seems like only yesterday that I was a child" but it's true....yeah...wow..old person...?
