Varian (Var-E-an)—half Highlander, half Lowlander prince, Varian doesn't feel like he belongs anywhere—especially not in the Lowlands, since he speaks and looks like a Highlander.

Jevran (Jev-RAN)—Varian's older half-brother and the king of the Lowlands. He and Varian don't get along, most of the time, but Jevran is willing to do what it takes to protect his brother from the wrath of the Council

Kerrin (Care-IN)—a Highlander who snuck into the Lowlands to sell his daughter' artwork

Beno (BEN-oh)—Captain of the Royal Guard, one of Jevran's loyal friends

Danilos (DAN-i-LOWS)—the Head Counsellor, Danilos has a history with Highlanders and Dragons that makes him more dangerous that anyone realizes.

Jokk (Joe-K)—Leader of a village simply known as the Foot of Mount Arborn. Kerrin was one of Jokk's best friends

Fleet—Varian's Dragon mount

Archinodos (Are-CHI-no-DOS)/Archflame—the Great Dragon

Mount Arborn (AIR-borne)—the mountain sitting above Jokk's village, where most of the dragons make their home.

Great Dragon—the title given to the leader of the clan. He is usually descended from the Dragon-Father, Merrfang, and usually lives to be the oldest dragon of the clan. One of his responsibilities is guarding the Crown of Ages.

Crown of Ages—a crown worn back in the days when the Highlands and Lowlands were one country. It is said to give wisdom to the man who wears it

Tikah (Tee-KAH)—a kitchen girl; Mel's older sister; one of Varian's good friends

Mel—a stablehand; Tikah's younger brother; Varian's protégée.

Kylia (Ky-LEE-ah)—Kerrin's daughter who befriends Varian

Flameclaw—Jokk's Dragon mount

Darkfang—leader of the renegade Dragons known as the Lowland Dragons

Lowland Dragons—the nickname other Dragons have given the renegades, because many of their ancestors agreed with the ancestor of the Lowlanders in the war of the Crown of Ages

Loryss y Benlirath—the Dragons' name for the war of the Crown of Ages, in which two brothers split the kingdom and started the animosities between the countries

Onna (ON-nah)—a herbalist who is temperamental and always threatening to put "something nasty" in someone's drink

Watches—the Highlanders and Lowlanders alike tell time by the "watches" of the day and night. Every day is divided into four sections of six hours each, and these sections are called watches. The watches are: Forenoon (6 in the morning to 12 noon); Afternoon (12 noon to 6 in the evening); Evening Watch (6 in the evening until 12 midnight); and Lastwatch (12 midnight until 6 in the morning)

What is this about dragons? Did I miss something?

Dragons haven't been a major

Dragons haven't been a major part of the story yet, they've just been mentioned in passing.

Names, and places, and dragons, oh my!

Hmmm....ditto what LoriAnn said!

This was a great help, Heather! Thanks for putting it up! I can't wait ( and when I say "can't wait" I really mean "CAN'T WAIT") for the next chapter in this epic masterpiece!

LOL!

LoriAnn: :0P Glad I have you curious. I'm working on the next sections, don't worry. And if you must know, the Dragons shall be introduced soon. That's all I shall promise.

OFG: Glad it helped. I always find books without pronunciation guides to be highly annoying. Master epic? LOL. "It's too much, darling, too much!" You'll give me a big head with any more flattering. :0)
