Summer-Moon

LoriAnn's picture
A Poem By LoriAnn // 12/15/2009

(Note--this has nothing to do with my sister's story "The Shadowed Moon". Sorry that the titles are so similer. I tried to think of something else, but...*shrugs* Anyway...)

The yard is eerie-quiet
The sky is velvet-deep
The wood is night-alively
My eyes are not-asleep

What wondrous time is this?
When all about my room
The shadows float so softly
In a sea of moon-tossed gloom

Pearly-blue and satin-black
Mingle on my floor
Across the wall and pillow flicker
The flames of nightsong’s shore

Patchy light, like shards of glass
Dances with the breeze
Reflecting in my dream-dazed eyes
Once passing through the trees

Shadows cast by moonlight
Are tricksy, changeling things
Their best intentions may be fraught
With impish counter-rings

But as I lie in sleepless daze
While shadows dance around
I cannot help but wish
To be so wonder-found

The yard is eerie-quiet
The stars are shedding-tear
The wood is night-alively
And Summer-moon is here

Awww...

The shadows float so softly
In a sea of moon-tossed gloom

Beautiful, beautiful. And even more so for being written in the middle of winter.  I could clearly see everything.

lol

Actually, it was written August 12th of last year. But I'm glad you enjoyed it.
