Anointed by the Light

A Poem By Sarah B. // 5/1/2009

I have been inside this dark cocoon for far too long.
Outside I hear the rustlings and the murmurings of song.
They seem to be inviting me to leave behind the night -
To unwrap from the shadows and be anointed by the light.

Your poem is beautiful
---
The Word is alive/and it cuts like a sword through the darkness
With a message of life to the hopeless/and afraid...

~"The Word is Alive' by Casting Crowns

May my words be a light that guides others to the True Light and Word.

It's like listening to

It's like listening to someone sing. Beautiful, lyrical.

"outside I hear the rustlings and the murmurings of song..."

I'd say "catchy" except that's wildly inadiquate. So I'll stick with "musical" and "haunting." It's one of those things that echoes in your head for a long while after you read it.

Yes, exactly! I think

Yes, exactly! I think haunting is a good word (haunting in a good way, I assure you. Like, Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy...I mean she haunted him. Not haunting like the evil spirit of a long dead child with a lingering wail of dark and mournful tones residing in the rafters of a house of horror and rotting, creaking wood and black cats....not that kind.).

Um... thanks. I think... O_O ;)

This poem is so short, but I just seemed to be complete. And you're right, it is "catchy". ;)

I made a wallpaper based on this poem, which you can see here, if you like:

(No spam, I promise. :)
Though I can't remember now if the poem was inspired by the picture, or the picture reminded me of the poem I wrote. Ah, well...

....

This was very beautiful. Effortless to read. I think, even though it seems complete as it is, it would be beautiful if it went on.

That was lovely. I liked how

That was lovely. I liked how you described "the rustlings and murmurings of song"

I've never seen a purple cow,
I never hope to see one.
But I can tell you anyhow;
I'd rather see than be one.
