Sleep On It

Timothy's picture
A Poem By Timothy // 1/24/2009

Days like these can come and go
Quickly and briefly and you won’t hear me complain
Even when the sun is shining
On the outside, in my mind it’s a pouring rain
Too many worries and future duties
Merely focusing on a single one is proving to be hard
When I think to tackle one task
I find my brain is lead and my intellect has been barred
I think I would like to forget
For just a minute, everything still to be done
And put my mind in a dry place
Where the breeze is gentle and there’s no need to run
Today I think I may have the time
To waste time sleeping or dreaming, here goes!
Immediately I am reminded
Of myriad responsibilities, but look at that rose!
And over there is a tree
With a giant spread of shade under which I can lay
If perhaps I get tired
Of this glorious sun I just noticed shining today
Now what was I worrying about?
I can’t seem to remember, but this grass is deep!
Yes, what was I worrying about?
Maybe it will come to me after I lay down and sleep

Yay! You've written again! :D Heaven knows I've felt the same way these past few months. I just can't get to the restful end part somehow...

You're back!

Great job. :)
"I think I would like to forget/For just a minute, everything still to be done" was my favorite line.

I really enjoyed this

I really enjoyed this Timothy! I particularly enjoyed the last handful of lines. And so easy to relate to - makes me long for summer weather.
