In A Fairytale

I wandered through a fairy-land,
Covered in misty grey.
Time stood still, yet time flowed on
As I went a dreamy way.

Fire rose high in shimmering points,
Contending with the stars.
Smoke curled up in shaky wisps
And trumpets sounded from afar.

Hoofbeats echoed, and flapping wings,
Creatures of old these noises made:
Beasts untamed and things unknown
In colorful garb arrayed.

Used to be I could see
into the sunset of my future
Everything smiling at me
and just crying "adventure!"
Somewhere between then and now
I caved to fear somehow
Next thing I know he has
stolen my hope from my hands
and I find my dreams
on the ground at my feet
in pieces

And now I'm locked up without even a view
captive, without a hope of finding you

The fairy city of Myriada (named because of the myriad of fairies that lived and passed through there) was situated on a magnificent mountain; actually, the whole mountain was but part of the city. The Fairy Queen’s palace was on the mountain, and from there the city wound down and landed at the mountain’s foot, where it spread out for three miles round.
