Answered Prayers

A poem by AmandaLC | 7/19/2008

You’re here for good now little one
Just in time too, my heart was aching
Remember those who were on your side
Now you have a chance at God and a good life
It didn’t seem like it was going good, but you are a tough little boy
Prayers for you have wrapped around the world
You are full of life, now you can show the rest of the world what I already see

For Jerusalem

A poem by Heather | 6/11/2008

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem
The city torn by age-old war
The holy city of the Jews
Razed by years of war
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem
The holy city of the kings
The city of David, Solomon, Judah
The symbol of hope that God brings
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem
The city Abraham’s children founded
Where love and laughter once had shown
Now death and dying lay mounded

Despair and Deliverance

A poem by James | 5/31/2008

Halls drip all around me, halls wrought out of stone
Etched so from a mountain of malice and hate;
Like unto a grave, this room chilleth my bone –
Pursuing my soul to its perishing fate.

Why should I have lived, so to see this dark day?
Hell’s fire reached my home, for my heart, so to tear.
Eternally, cruel – nay! My soul cannot say!
Recalling what happened is too hard to bear.

Stepping Backwards

A poem by Timothy | 4/30/2008

A racehorse held by the restraining gate
I see the prize I strive to win
Excitement, desire to run the race
But only with your consenting grace
Approving these storms within

Uncertain, timid without a clue
I see the prizes yet cannot choose
Indecision, a falter before the day
Waiting for you to lead the way
To show which goal is true

Trusting, stepping out on the edge

wanderer

A poem by Aisling | 3/16/2008

“Not all those who wander are lost.”
-J. R. R. Tolkien

wanderer
storm-battered, unconsoled
if you can hear me
don’t lose hope
don’t grow weary of your life
of unanswered questions
filling volumes
in the library of your mind
here’s to you
and to your wanderings
to your questions without answers
and to every night you’ve lain awake
and wondered
here’s to your heart

Going Down is Easy

A poem by Timothy | 3/4/2008

Going down is pretty easy,
Going up will take some time.
We can take the curves around this hill,
But go down in a straight line.

Going down is pretty easy,
It only takes a shove.
Going up will take some effort,
And we’ll need to learn to love.

I remember where we were before,
And how suddenly we fell.
How we’ll get that high again,
Is really hard to tell.

old dreams

A poem by Brianna | 2/11/2008

Footsteps gently fall
afraid to break the silence, shrouding
the noon sun in its blanket of
fading grey

This ruminating heart
wanders down its lonely path, visiting
the grave of long dead dreams
sleeping quietly

Ambivalent to awaken
these broken things so long asleep, and
reminiscing on these memories
lying still

The light that pours through open doors,

Hope

An essay by Velocity | 1/9/2008

Hope, is a good thing to have

Faith, is believing, in someone or something

Love, is caring for a friend

Trust, is falling from a tree
Into someone’s hands

Peace, between two countries
Is much better than war

Believing in God
Is way better than believing in yourself.
(cause you will fail)

Truth, Is God’s word
It’s right from the begging to the end

Holy, is God

Ode (O You who have loved me)

A poem by Aisling | 12/20/2007

O You who have loved me into life
will You catch my fall?
do You promise You will be there
if I give up the ground
and dare to drop
from the heights my heart has climbed to?
such a long way down
from self-possession
Hope, hold tight my heart
in the dark between the leaping
and the everlasting arms
the half-second fall
holy in-between
when the world holds its breath with mine

Am I Saved?

A poem by Stephanie | 12/11/2007

Where do you turn?
Whose arms do you run to?
Whom do you trust?
Whom do you call?

Fights all the time.
Name calling, yelling.
Where do you run?
How do you live?

Whom do you trust?
She says this.
He says that.
How can I love?

All the abuse,
Drinking and actions.
It feels sick,
And no one is really there.

I can’t go on.
Life is too hard.
There must be something better.
