Promise

A poem by Timothy | 8/21/2008

This look in my eyes is a desperate glance in the dark
No weight on my shoulders, but it’s like an anvil to the heart
I can’t find my answers if I don’t know what to ask
I can’t fill my need until I know what I lack
It’s so hard to hold on when the silence is all I hear
Right when I need your arms around me, I find no faith that you are near

Prayer

A poem by Brianna | 7/24/2008

Flowing tears, healing tears, strip away fears
for reaching hands, that love the man
beneath the scars, like shattered stars
holds tight to hope, with heartbreak notes
the sorrow held, because they fell
but long for more, knees on the floor.
Father hold them, come and show them
mercy meets them, where "forgive me" stands.
Down from Heaven, breaching chasm

Answered Prayers

A poem by AmandaLC | 7/19/2008

You’re here for good now little one
Just in time too, my heart was aching
Remember those who were on your side
Now you have a chance at God and a good life
It didn’t seem like it was going good, but you are a tough little boy
Prayers for you have wrapped around the world
You are full of life, now you can show the rest of the world what I already see

Stepping Backwards

A poem by Timothy | 4/30/2008

A racehorse held by the restraining gate
I see the prize I strive to win
Excitement, desire to run the race
But only with your consenting grace
Approving these storms within

Uncertain, timid without a clue
I see the prizes yet cannot choose
Indecision, a falter before the day
Waiting for you to lead the way
To show which goal is true

Trusting, stepping out on the edge

Drought

A poem by Delaney | 3/22/2008
The dying daisy bows her head
And sends a prayer up to the sky.
The fading grass has done it's best
To face the thirst and just survive.

Oh rain, oh rain, where are you now?
Dear God, please do not let us die.
We dream of rivers raining down
Drowning out our thirsty cry.

How little shade there is today,

Listen and Come

A poem by Bernadette | 2/19/2008

Listen to what the people are saying
Listen

Listen to what the people are singing
Listen

Listen to what God is saying
Listen

We ignore and walk away
Listen

Come and see the glory of God
Come

Come and hear the glory of God
Come

Come and feel the glory of God
Come

We say no and say excuses
Come

But I will come and listen
I will

Do you walk alone?

A poem by Stephanie | 12/12/2007

Do you walk alone?
Have you no one to stand at your side?
Does no one love like their own?
Is life at the point that you just want to die?
Does no one listen to what you have to say?
Do they care, or believe in you?
Haven’t we all been there?
But is there really no one?
Are you sure you are alone?
For someone greater cares,
For you his greatest joy.

Light my life

A poem by Emily-Smileygirl | 12/4/2007

I wrote this almost two years ago.

Jesus, light my life,
And take away my strife
That as I forgive my brother
We can forgive one another
But Jesus there is another person in my life
Who is still living in strife
And I ask you today
To go and light her way
I’ve tried to tell her about you
But instead she just pushed through

and one white dove

A poem by Aisling | 10/15/2007

(I wrote this after my first vigil outside an abortion clinic, this past Saturday...)

the wind cutting a hole through your flesh
through your bones
a hole through your heart
and your insides tremble, numb
you stand on the edge
somewhere behind you, your world
your life
shrunken now
into sound and fury
signifying nothing
signifying something so great it cannot fit
inside of you

Prayer

A poem by Heather | 10/14/2007

Fill me with enthusiasm, Lord, till I overflow
Take me, break me, love me, don’t let me go
Hold me cupped in your Almighty hands
God of heaven, God of all lands
Fill me with joy, Lord, forever more
Through sunny times and troubles sore
Touch me, Jesus, break these earthly chains
That I may dance and soak in this heavenly rain
Jehovah Jireh, Supreme Creator of everything
