Rain

Boots In The Mud

A poem by Delaney | 11/26/2008
"Slap, slap," says
the rain on my window
"Slap, slap," say
my boots in the mud
"Stay and cry
"Tears of joy in the wetness
"Stay and cry,"
says the great gray sky
"Go home," says
the flirty bit o' sunlight
"Go home," says
the rain in my hair
"Go away," say
I to my common sense
"Slap, slap," say
my boots as I run.

A Poem for 'Hannah W.'

A poem by Bernadette | 11/7/2008

I was so lonely when you left
The house was silent as never before
The rain did fall, making it sorrowful
I looked around to see what to do
But I kept thinking of you
Your face is always alight even with no smile
You make our house happy, even if it is always so
You make rainy days bright when I think dully
But now you are away again

Wash Away

A poem by Hannah W. | 10/9/2008

Rain
drops of silver,
crystalline tears,
wash away
sorrows and fears
Rain, rain,
don't go away,
keep me company,
cleanse my weary soul,
with drops of silver,
crystalline tears,
wash away sorrows and fears,
Rain, rain,
you blow away,
the sun comes out
on a whole new day

Puddles

A poem by Hannah W. | 9/13/2008

They told you not to get all wet,
but who knows why they say?
you pull on a pair of boots
and skip out into the day

The day they said was gloomy,
but who knows what they mean?
all you see is wonder,
a world of gray that gleams

Gleaming with what they must avoid,
but who knows why they do?
You wish that they would listen
and finally know the truth:

Chapter 1 of No-Name-For-now

Fiction by Emily | 4/8/2008

I met the dark steps that lead to the living room, which wasn’t appealing but it was better than sleeping in the same room with my cousin, Allison, who snores.
I walked down the creaking stairs and to the living room and sat down on the couch. I fluffed up the feather pillow in my hand and laid down covering myself with a cashmere blanket.

Drought

A poem by Delaney | 3/22/2008
The dying daisy bows her head
And sends a prayer up to the sky.
The fading grass has done it's best
To face the thirst and just survive.

Oh rain, oh rain, where are you now?
Dear God, please do not let us die.
We dream of rivers raining down
Drowning out our thirsty cry.

How little shade there is today,

Sometimes

A poem by Bernadette | 2/19/2008

Sometimes I just want to cry
Sometimes I just want to shout
Oh Lord rain down your mercy
Upon this earth that is dry
Oh Lord rain down your mercy
Pour down the rain of mercy
Let your mercy flood the earth
Let the waves of grace come upon the shore
Let the clouds of the heavens cover the sky
Let the raindrops of love pour down on the wilting grass
