Truth: Pressing the Word-Switching Issue

An essay by James | 4/23/2008

One of my friends who thinks truth is relative believes strongly in global warming. He is sure that if we don’t take drastic measures, the planet will undergo massive climate change; ice caps will melt, sea levels will rise, cities will be wiped out, species will go extinct, etc.

Truth: Word-Switching

An essay by James | 4/10/2008

When my friends refer to their belief that truth is relative to the mind, one of the most common phrases I hear is “It’s true to you,” or “It’s not true to me.” For example, when talking about God, one of them would say, “Well, God is true to you, but not to an atheist.

Truth: It Depends on Who You Ask

An essay by James | 4/5/2008

Have you ever asked someone a serious question, and received a very nice sounding reply that really wasn’t logical? I once asked one of my friends how one could go to heaven when he died. The reply came, “Well, it depends on who you ask.”
Seriously? Apparently. But think about it a moment. In fact, come with me back to Poland, 1939.

Truth: The Great Non-Sequitur (Part 2)

An essay by James | 4/4/2008

In my last essay on truth, I offered an explanation as to why the idea that truth is relative is false; namely, that it depends on a Non-Sequitur (a conclusion that doesn’t follow) to prove itself.
The Non-Sequitur is thus:

Not everyone agrees about what is absolutely true.
Therefore, nothing is absolutely true.

Truth: The Great Non Sequitir (Part 1)

An essay by James | 4/2/2008

This is a first short essay in a series about truth, and whether it is relative or absolute. I have had some good friends over the years who have thought that, to one degree or another, truth is relative; that is, it all depends on one’s perspective. I appreciate their friendship, but their point of view, frankly, doesn’t make sense.

Truth... or something like it

An essay by luke | 3/24/2008

It's interesting to think that truth is only really relative to the mind. What is true to one person is not necesarily the truth to another. For example, Two people may look at a tree, the tree is green to one and brown to the other. However each person believes that they are telling the truth and are convinced that the other is wrong.

Change

An essay by Velocity | 3/5/2008

Depression… You know, what everyone goes through.

Worries… What everyone does…

Sadness…” I cared for you… I did…”

Helplessness… “What am I supposed to do now?”

The pain… “God if your there then why does this happen?”

Truth

A poem by Velocity | 10/6/2007

The truth is there
Just open your eyes and see it.

The love it there
Just open your heart to feel it.

His hand is here
If you'll just let Him hold you.

Hes waiting for you
Exsept Him for yourself.

His care is there
Just let Him heal your wounds.

You can't make it alone
So let God lead the way.

Truth is In(it's always been...)

A poem by jennifer | 7/29/2007

wake up,
and pray the day goes well
we've got secrets for sell, first come and first serve
i watch your lies make it so much worse
and i
am borrowing your time
just enough to get me by, your alibi
lacks every bit of sense,
"oh, conscience, how've you been?"
(please forgo the fake sentiment)

i may sound bitter and somewhat contrite
but the nights are just passing me (good)by(e).

Dating

An essay by Edith | 6/30/2007

Some people misunderstand certain "sheltered" homeschoolers ideas on dating. And there are also a lot of other homeschoolers who don't get the idea either.

Dating: We don't think it is a sin. It's a common misconception that many people hold on to.
