On The Way Home

Fiction by Velocity | 1/9/2008

As I walked down a dark alley, on my way home from school; My cell phone rang.

“Hello?” I said. No one answered, I figured it was just a mistake call. I was half way down the alley

when I heard a moving noise coming from near the dumpster. I froze, everything was quiet, except the

wind blowing pieces of garbage everywhere. I started to walk out of the alley, I looked back and a man was standing right behind me, he grabbed me. I tried to kick him, so he'd lost grasp of me. I tried to scream through his dirty fingers. I poked his eye, and got away. I ran the whole way home, looking back to see if he was after me. At one time, I think I saw him running behind me. I took a few turns and didn’t see him again.
I got home, closed and locked the door. The TV had been left on from earlier, and it showed a picture of a man that had robbed a house about an hour ago, the man had brown frisky hair, Brown eyes, and he was wearing a ratty pair of black jeans, a long sleeved turquoise shirt, brown shoes, and his name was ‘Rolly Frimson’.

“That was the man I had seen earlier.” I said to myself and grabbed the home phone off of its charger, I dialed
the number it had shown to call if we had seen this man. I told the woman on the other line, that I had
seen him on my way home from school, and he had tried to grab me, at around 3:00pm, in an alley, on 21st St.
“okay, are you home right now?”
“Yes,” I answered.
“Okay, make sure all the doors are locked, and we’re going to come down there right now okay?”
I told her where I lived, and called my parents to tell them what had happened. They came home in the next thirty minutes.
After the police had gotten all the information they could, and left the house. I fell asleep on the couch. The next morning I heard that they had caught the thief, down at the oldson river. and I was glad… And from then on I rode a bike to school.
