you came running
over the green fields you came running to meet me
you took my heart by surprise
you came dancing
wildflowers and windswept trees, smiling out loud
you took my hand and spun me
you came singing
echoes in the ruins of a majesty at once ancient and undying
you took my breath away
and somewhere
somewhere back in your dark, wet earth
somewhere between the cows dappling the hillside
somewhere in the laugh of the creek through Kilfree
somewhere down the winding one-lane road
somewhere in the depth of the old man's eyes
somewhere among the echoes of a castle's stones
somewhere between the stone cottages lining the village street
somewhere in the smell of a turf fire burning
somewhere through the patchwork of stone walls
somewhere inside the little post office on the corner
somewhere near where the ocean meets the rocks
somewhere among the magpies on the wire
somewhere behind the young farmer's smile
you woke me up to a new, old world
and I know now where I've come from
and I know now where my home is
and somewhere
somewhere back in your dark, wet earth
I lost my heart
