The Prayer of a Student

Essays, papers, tons of ‘em!
Quizzes, tests due, loads of ‘em!
A Punnett Square to fill-
A new formula to find.
Got no time to kill-
Am I officially losing my mind?

Crammed in my bedroom,
I battle procrastination.
Lunch break should be soon,
But I’m held back with frustration.

Finish eating, ‘cause Algebra is next!
My stomach stops, drops, and rolls,
And my mind is very vexed!

In rolls co-op, where I get to see my friends
Bent hastily over worksheets,
How I wish school would end!

“God, help me cope with this,” I say.
It at first was little, but then I began to pray.
“Your suf’ring was worse than mine,
And you ne’er complained, not as much as I.

“Sometimes I feel foolish,
Coming to You as now,
Knowing You endured more,
And I’ll have to ask, ‘How?’”

Life isn’t so hard,
It’s just what I make of it.
School’s not useless,
It’s just what I take from it.

Well, I’ll have to finish this selfish student’s prayer,
As I have some work to do.
And, teachers, just to clear the air,
We really appreciate you!

My first semester of high school now over with, I hope some people agree with me. Hehe, I'm not really looking forward to college...

/Life isn’t so hard,/ True, but it often feels like it is.
/It’s just what I make of it./ Oh my. Deep.
/School’s not useless,/ Nor is the school of life.
/It’s just what I take from it./ Again, deep. Truth bomb right there.

Thank you for sharing this. Good reminders for me. <3 Also, very well done. Very well done indeed.

I don’t thrive off of chaos: chaos thrives off of me.

Lol this is fun!

"Got no time to kill -
Am I officially losing my mind?"

Yep, been there. : P

And congrats on your first high school semester - I'm hope you'll find the rest of them get better! : )

For me college was a thousand times better, haha! Mainly because I got to pick what I was going to study, for the most part (besides general ed). Graduate school is even better because you really only research what you want to work on, nothing else. I really love it cause I ONLY want to study stats, haha.

That sounds so cool! I am really excited to go to college to study social and cultural anthropology. I love studying ancient and early modern cultures, and judging by what I write, my favorites are generally Middle Eastern or Celtic.
