Must I struggle with my pride,
My foolishness and sin?
Why do I, with angry stride
Attempt to banish Him?

Grief reigns deep within my heart,
For I have grieved my Lord –
Succumbing to the devil’s dart
And using not my sword.

I have sinned – wilt Thou forgive
Though I am weak and poor?
I cannot see how I can live
Without Thy love forevermore.

“Precious child, let go thy load.
Have faith in Me and rest.
Need thou leave my safe abode
Whilst thou art so oppressed?

I Surrender

I surrender, to obey,

Everything He says, day by day.

I surrender, all my sin,

So I will win, to please Him.

I will try to no longer fall,

I answer His call,

I surrender all.

 Picking myself up,

one more time

I'm trying,

to see through tears

once more, is my light dying?

I've surrendered

all that I know how,

can You just answer

and hold my heart?

It's been full and heavy

I want You

to renew it

into what will reflect Yours.

My littleness

is breaking

my humanity overtaking.

Will You set this right?

I'm asking for You to fight the fight.

When burdens are heavy

When pathways are dark

My Everything

i give this heart

the one that's torn

i give this yes

the one that yearns

i give this life

the one with love

love and sacrifice

i give this heart

the one that's sore

i give this amen

and it hurts more

i give my words

my actions

i give this heart

the one with joy

i give this smile

for you to enjoy

i give this song

with all

of what holds meaning

i give to you

my everything

ghost like

shadows, dark but alluring

meeting the sky.

I'm asleep in reality

not awake in a dream,

almost serene

but aching.

silent weight

encompassing my hearts throng

turning it low and melodious.

I wish someone would sing along

to the forgotten bars

of my song.

my heart beats

with the orange glow;

orange fading.

my hearts song, my life strains

the pounding quietly resounds.

The Growing In Between

the same place, a different scene
the same place, a different me
an older me

the same trees, a little taller
the same trees, different leaves
a newborn green

the same stones, a little smoother
the same stones, different tones
worn down, turned over

the same sky, different clouds
the same sky, different sounds
chase the pictures out

the same sun, the same shadows
the same shadows, different patterns
woven on the gravel

the same grass, the same color

Left, with bruised heart. Beating a steady weary beat, behind the cover of fear. Afraid to love. Afraid to be loved. Everything just betrayal. Everything ends, just as the heart begins to open; cautiously, quietly, and then it cringes, because it's gone.

o sweet exchange
which takes my heart and gives me Yours
the white host asks the question
“will you lose yourself for Me?”
o blessed hope
heart hallowed, held, unhindered
says “Amen”
tear out from me myself
pour into me Your life-blood
and the kiss of the host on my lips, my tongue
says I am not my own
and in the loss of myself, I am found
